The Von Trolley Quartet (VTQ) is an Australian Music Comedy Company that has been performing since 2004. The VTQ present a unique musical show that combines comic routines, slap-stick, circus skills and audience participation. The VTQ use high quality musicianship and quirky, undersized instruments to play comic parodies of popular covers and original music that is influenced by the styles of gypsy jazz, bluegrass, and swing and good old fashioned rock n roll. The hilarious and highly visual VTQ have entertained audiences of all ages and languages at street, comedy, music, folk, theatre and fringe festivals as well as corporate and private functions from Adelaide to Zagreb. Whether it is because of the high energy music, the comic characters, the crazy acrobatics or the unusual instruments, The Von Trolley Quartet is beyond doubt, “the best band you have never seen”.

Abouth the Band

Robert Falkinder (The Almost Amazing Norbert): The big man with the small instrument, Norbert is one of the founding members of the Von Trolley Quartet. Norbert has been involved in many productions over the past 7 years and has toured extensively throughout Australia, South East Asia and Europe with Circus Monoxide, Lunar Circus, Quirkus Circus and The Von Trolley Quartet. Gareth Bjaaland (Donkbert Nipplebottom) An exceptionally likable and versatile performer, Gareth has been involved full-time with circus and street performing since the age of 12 years old, in fact he's never had another job (except once when a lady who saw him busking paid him ten dollars to change her flat tyre). Performing as an acrobat, musician and juggler with Circus Monoxide, Lunar Circus, The Pitts and The Von Trolley Quartet he has performed in over 20 countries. As far as he is aware he is the only man in the world who can juggle his own leg, balance on his head and play the five string banjo at 165 beats per minute on a black stool and train live lizards to bring people back from the dead. (not all at the same time) Sebastian (Monsieur Holala May We) Born 1972, in France and raised beside a cheese factory just outside of Paris, Sebastien, aka “Monsieur Holala May We”, began learning the Contrebass at the age of 12, studying under the watchful eye of notorious French bass player, Jean Pierre le Ratt. Despite immediate impressions, Sebastien did attend School. In the mid nineties he made a move to the US where he had a crack at breaking into Hollywood staring in the blockbuster B movie “Jacques be nimble”, where he played the roll of a French candle stick maker turned Private Dick. After a brief, yet controversial stint in the American film industry, Sebastien returned to Europe where he teamed up with critically acclaimed singer songwriter, Thomas Baker to form the highly successful show band “Fantasmagoria”. When Thomas ran off with a burlesque dancer, not so long ago, Sebastien was at last able to realise his four year long ambition of joining the Von Trolley Quartet, and the rest is, well, not yet, but will most certainly sometime in the future become, history! Trent Arkley Smith (Mild Wolf) Trent Arkleysmith, aka, “Mild Wolf” was born and raised on a goat farm in New South Wales, Australia. He began to learn the cello at the age of five, trumpet at nine and guitar at age fourteen. Since then he has picked up skills on a number of other instruments including the ukulele and nose flute. Trent has worked as a musician, clown, comedian, composer and musical director, and in numerous bands, orchestras, theatre productions, circuses and street theatre shows including, The Oskar and Strudel Show(Aus/CH), Circus Monoxide(Aus), Lunar Circus(Aus) and Queensland State Theatre Company(Aus). He’s also quite good at whistling!
