The Von Trolley Quartet (VTQ) is an Australian Music Comedy Company that has been performing since 2004. The VTQ present a unique musical show that combines comic routines, slap-stick, circus skills and audience participation. The VTQ use high quality musicianship and quirky, undersized instruments to play comic parodies of popular covers and original music that is influenced by the styles of gypsy jazz, bluegrass, and swing and good old fashioned rock n roll. The hilarious and highly visual VTQ have entertained audiences of all ages and languages at street, comedy, music, folk, theatre and fringe festivals as well as corporate and private functions from Adelaide to Zagreb. Whether it is because of the high energy music, the comic characters, the crazy acrobatics or the unusual instruments, The Von Trolley Quartet is beyond doubt, “the best band you have never seen”.

The Street Show:(requiring no electricity)
A forty five minute show combining exciting up tempo music performed on embarrassingly undersized instruments, audience interaction, crazy acrobatic stunts (including the only man in the world who can stand on his head and play the five string banjo) and unique and highly innovative comic routines. The Von Trolley Quartet draws the natural spontaneity of the street into their show enjoying opportune moments for improvisation with audience members. These four endearing characters bring the classic musical clown well into the 21st century and beyond with their keenly developed sense of comedy and remarkable musical ability.
This show is also suitable for performance in theatres and can be varied in duration from 30min to 1hr.

 



Cabarets or Varieties:
The Von Trolley Quartet can perform short routines anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes in duration as well as providing music to accompany cabaret acts. Capable of extremely quick build up and pack down times, they can enter a space bring an audience into grips of hilarity, then be gone without a trace before the smoke has cleared!

 



Music Sets:
The Von Trolley Quartet is capable of performing concerts containing up to 2 to 3 forty five minute sets featuring some cleverly composed original material along with some unique renditions of a number of well known classics. From gypsy swing, jazz, renaissance, bluegrass and a touch of funk, to high-energy vaudeville rock. All presented almost unbelievably on undersized instruments and executed in the inimitable Von Trolley style, these performances are ideal for bars or clubs.

 

Music for Theatre and Circus:
With their past experience composing and performing music for theatre and circus, The Von Trolley Quartet present music of a great variety of styles utilizing such instruments as cello, trumpet, violin, electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele, banjo, Ashbory bass (silicon stringed miniature bass guitar), 5-stringed bass guitar, contrabass, drums and percussion, keyboards and computer programming, to create moving and captivating live soundtracks to accompany performances as well as be able to perform as a stand alone act.
